It is time for our
State Beekeepers meeting, It
gives us an opportunity to learn new things, share experiences, make new friends
and visit with old friends.
We again have a honey
contest at our meeting this year.
We encourage everyone to bring a container of honey and participate. Whether you think your honey is
good or not, you won’t know unless
you enter. You may learn
something and earn some money.
The honey contest requirements are as follows:
Entry
requirements:
Must be pure honey produced in
Arkansas.
Honey must be displayed in clear glass containers. (No labels should be affixed to the
containers)
An entry number will be used to identify contestant’s
containers.
Categories:
I-
Extracted Honey, Extra Light Amber or Lighter
II- Extracted Honey, Light Amber or Darker
Prizes will be awarded to the top three places in each
category as follows:
1st place........................ $ 25
2nd place....................... $ 15
3rd place........................ $ 10
The following are the criteria the honey will be judged
on:
1. Freedom from granulation
and foreign material
2. Freedom from air bubbles
either in suspension or froth
3. Appearance of container
and pack
4. Flavor and
aroma
